In 1995, the Board of County Commissioners approved the use of percent for art funds for a Youth Arts Public Art program involving professional artists working with youth in the Juvenile Justice System. A variety of opportunities have been developed for young people to learn new skills, earn respect in their communities and raise their sights for the future. Prints, photographs, poems, theatrical performances, and short films have been created under the leadership of professional artists. For more information on the project, contact Kristin Law Calhoun, Public Art Manager, at (503) 823-5401 or klcalhoun@racc.org   Mantecon
