| On the Road ... is part of the intersections residency program, an investigation of art at work and work as art, in Multnomah County.
"The world is dynamic and cinematic, we understand where we are both from the abstract map in our heads and the constantly shifting perspectives we encounter. Our movement is both determined by and determines the places we pass through, creating an interconnected symbiotic relationship." |

The way an individual negotiates the grid reflects both the nature of their mission and their personal inclinations; distinctions that are magnified when one is 'on the job'. The artist is focusing on and collaborating with those county employees who regularly need to travel from place to place for their jobs. Her research involves observation, conversation, note taking, and recording parts of the work day with a camera. The routes traveled by a tax assessor are very different from those used by an animal control officer. The travel patterns of each person reflects their own narrative and function with the larger system. |
