Mike Delman

MIKE DELMAN

OCCUPATION: Public Affairs Director, Portland Habilitation Center.

OCCUPATIONAL BACKGROUND: Construction laborer; warehouseman, Field representative for Seafarers Int'l Union and AFSCME; Manager of Reliable Shoe, Inc.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND: Beaverton H.S.; University of Washington (B.A.).

PRIOR GOVERNMENTAL EXPERIENCE: Chief of Staff to Commissioner Gary Hansen; Intergovernmental relations coordinator, Sheriff's Office; Strategic Planner, County Aging Services Department.

PERSONAL: Married to Lori (Irsfeld) Delman, an OHSU pharmacist, with two daughters attending public middle school.

COUNTY SERVICES TO THOSE IN NEED

Mike Delman will:

  • Restore the public health clinic to Southeast Portland by partnering with Providence and Good Samaritan health systems.
  • Add Schools Uniting Neighborhoods (SUN schools) programs to the Marshall cluster and David Douglas School District.

MEANINGFUL PUBLIC SAFETY 

Mike Delman will:

  • Help open Wapato Jail as a multi-use facility that jails criminals and offers drug addiction and mental health treatment.
  • Restore the Auto Theft Task Force that Mike helped create in 1996.

CARING FOR PEOPLE AND THE ENVIRONMENT 

Mike Delman will:

  • Continue improving the county's environmental health and sustainability efforts.
  • Partner with non-profit organizations, state and federal leaders to find innovative solutions to our current health care crisis, including serving more of the uninsured.
