Ron McCarty

RON McCARTY

OCCUPATION: Tax Consultant/Enrolled Agent, licensed to practice before I.R.S. Tax Courts

OCCUPATIONAL BACKGROUND: Union Boilermaker; Small business owner; U.S. Army retiree

PRIOR GOVERNMENTAL EXPERIENCE: Four years State Representative, eight years Mt. Hood Community College Board; five years elected Multnomah Labor Council.

A NEW BEGINNING IN MULTNOMAH COUNTY
It's time for a “new beginning” of positive cooperation between Multnomah County and its citizens. Ron McCarty is prepared to lead this change. “I believe we can create an era of productive cooperation between the county and its citizens”.

RESPONSIBLE MANAGEMENT OF COUNTY FINANCES
“We need to effectively manage county finances,” McCarty says. As a former state legislator, Ron has experience with state budgets. He also has operated his own tax preparation business for 28 years. This background makes him the best-qualified candidate.

WILLING TO LISTEN
Ron believes that good public policy requires elected leaders to listen to all sides. He says, “No citizen should be kept out of the legislative process.” McCarty will be a fair-minded and open commissioner for all county citizens.

“Ron McCarty demonstrated during his terms in the Legislature that he was a bipartisan thinker and worked well with both parties in building consensus for his bills. He lowered the state income tax from 10% to 9%, and exempted Social Security from Oregon taxation, and simplified the Oregon tax return. Ron also single-handedly got an $800 sewer connection tax credit, the largest in state history. But more important, Ron will represent you best.”

Bill Dwyer, Lane County Commissioner
and former Representative

Here is what Ron believes in:

  • Education is Oregon's number one priority
  • Illegal immigration must be addressed, there is not enough county funds handle needs or problems
  • Use kicker check for a Rainy Day fund
  • Direct Lottery proceeds to Oregon health care

STAND UP, SPEAK UP, VOTE

YOUR VOTE IS GREATLY APPRECIATED
