Our Mission:

"To provide excellent customer service to our employees by offering quality recruitment, staff development and consultation to support our Department's mission."

As part of County-wide Business Services, the staff of the Human Resource Unit provide services to the Department in the following areas: consultation with recruitment staff regarding examination and selection; employee coaching and performance appraisal; management consultation and technical assistance; maintenance of personnel records and reports on personnel activities; coordination of the department's Affirmative Action plan and program; and coordination of the Department's risk management program.

Our goals are:
  • to retain the highest quality employees possible;
  • to provide training and career opportunities to ensure employees have the skills necessary to grow and succeed;
  • to provide training and assistance to managers and supervisors in areas of leadership, coaching and motivation, and handling performance deficiencies; to ensure management is trained in and able to apply the various department, county, state and federal rules and laws governing human resource activities and that we are available to them at all times for assistance and advice;
  • to develop and offer meaningful work opportunities for volunteers, interns and practicum placements in the Department, and to lead the way in the County's school-to-work program;
  • to provide risk prevention activities and training in the Department which will result in a healthier, safer work force and environment.

We are constantly looking for ways to improve our services to the Department, employees and the County.
