Adapt-a-Home

Mission: Adapt-a-Home's focus is to promote independence, empowerment, safety, and dignity for individuals of all ages with physical disabilities.

Eligibility Criteria: Disabled County residents

Services: Retrofitting and renovation services up to $2,000 per household.

Accessibility modification including:
  • wheelchair ramps
  • bathroom grab bars
  • widened doorways
  • roll-in showers

Staff manages all project activity from initial referral to completion of the project.

Program History: Sponsored by Unlimited Choices, Inc., this program has provided retrofitting and renovation services through grants to disabled County residents.

Adapt-a-Home began providing accessibility modification grants to recipients with start-up funds from Multnomah County in 1994. Since the program began, well over 200 modifications to homes and apartments have been completed in East Multnomah County.
